Vintage 12 inch necklace with 2 tiered strands of crystal beads. Gold tone chain and clasp. In good vintage condition with original tag.
These crystal beads have a special coating that gives them a shimmering, iridescent effect, similar to the colors of the Northern Lights. The aurora borealis coating was developed by Swarovski in collaboration with Christian Dior in 1953. The finish is a thin, metallic coating that refracts light to produce a rainbow of colors, including blues, pinks, and yellows, which change as the angle of light changes.
I picked up this vintage necklace because the Aurora Borealis reminded me of Snow on the Beach from Midnights by Taylor Swift.
