Exquisite Russian Legends collector plate (sixth issue), titled “Tsar Saltan,” was produced by Vinogradov Porcelain (USSR, 1989) and features artwork by Master Palekh miniaturist Galina Zhiryakova (Галина Жирякова). The design is adapted from an original Palekh lacquer miniature created specifically for this series and depicts a richly detailed scene from Alexander Pushkin’s beloved fairy tale “The Tale of Tsar Saltan.”
The Russian Legends series is the first officially authorized collector’s plate series ever produced in Russia. Each plate was created with multiple layers of pigment and gold and was fired under strict conditions, with production limited to 195 firing days, making these early USSR issues particularly collectible. Excellent condition. No chips, cracks, or crazing. Backstamp fully legible. Includes original information sheet (which appears to be stuck to the back of the plate).
