The shape is designed to be easy to hold, with the widest part slightly closer to the nib than the center.
The wood has been sanded with progressively finer sandpaper, up to 1000 grit. This gives it a moderate sheen while still allowing you to feel the natural texture of the wood.
The surface has been carefully cut and checked repeatedly to ensure there are no imperfections.
The finish uses Kinu Oil. This oil is derived primarily from rice, is tasteless and odorless, and is gentle on the skin.

Karín is a hardwood belonging to the genus Pterocarpus of the Fabaceae family.
It has various patterns created by the complexly interwoven grain.
This is burl wood from the white sapwood, which can only be harvested from a portion of the root.
