First book club edition hardcover copy of A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess (W. W. Norton & Company, 1963). Gutter code “C20” is the earliest known gutter code, according to isfdb.com, and indicates a printing in May of 1972. Vintage copy of this classic dystopian / science fiction novel, the basis for the film by Stanley Kubrick. Jacket now protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with rubbing/scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges - including chipping, creasing and some tears. Fading and discoloration to spine. Boards are straight and clean but with corners bumped. Binding is firm and spine is straight. Marks to top fore corner of front endpaper, otherwise all pages are clean and unmarked though tanned. See photos for condition.
