From Sganarelle, 1868. The character of Sganarelle in "Le Médecin malgré lui" (in English: The doctor/physician in spite of himself), a farce by Jean Baptiste de Molière, first staged in 1666. From "Oeuvres Complètes De Molière", (Complete Works of Molière), with an introduction by Jules Janin. [F. de P. Mellado, Paris, 1868].
I'm not the first owner so I don't know the history of this block print. Found well packaged and stored from a large estate collection.
A great French piece for a French restaurant wall or personal collection. Rare.
