Antique Ormolu Gold Gilt Apollo Round Lidded Portrait Trinket Powder Casket Box

Antique Ormolu Gold Gilt Round Lidded Portrait Trinket Powder Box made by Apollo Studios, New York circa 1910-1930. This antique box is simply stunning! Elevated on four round bun feet, the base of the box is made of elegant gilded brass with a heavy glass insert. The lid of the box is also made of heavy brass with a decorative twisted brass rope framing the edge. The glass-covered portrait center is hand painted on an ivory wafer, framed in brass, and accented with a pleated fan design.

The box is in good vintage condition with no chips or cracks noted. There is some wear to the gilt banding from age and normal usage. The cellophane cover over the pleated material on the lid has trapped dust over the years, but is intact with no cracks. Please see pictures for details.

It measures approximately 5"W x 2.25"H with the lid on and the base is about 2"H without the lid. The base is 1.5" deep.
