Brand new, only opened to take photos. The newspaper insert is like a real, several page newspaper in size, with lots to read inside! The outer box is not perfect, but it's really not that noticeable in person. And the magnetic lid doesn't close tightly, but I would still feel comfortable giving it a gift to someone.
