Vintage Navajo Sterling Silver Naja Pendant with Turquoise

This bold, vintage pendant is crafted in the iconic Navajo Naja design, a crescent-shaped symbol historically borrowed from Moorish culture and adopted by Navajo silversmiths to represent protection and ward off the evil eye. The horseshoe-shaped Naja is a prominent centerpiece in traditional squash blossom necklaces.

This sterling silver pendant features a single, prominent, oval-cut Turquoise stone set in a simple bezel at the apex of the crescent. The use of solid, polished sterling silver with a single stone is characteristic of classic, heavier-gauge Navajo metalwork. This piece is finished with a large shepherd hook bail on the back, allowing it to be easily slipped onto thick chains, leather cords, or bead necklaces.

The pendant measures 2 1/2" tall by 2 1/8" wide and has a substantial weight of 26.95 grams. It is a genuine, weighty statement piece that showcases traditional Southwestern silversmithing.
