A Rare Simon Fielding English Majolica Fan & Insect Turquoise & Cream Oyster Plate. A gorgeous majolica glazed oyster plate by Simon Fielding, Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 1878.

Six fan shaped oyster wells glazed in creamy yellow and turquoise sit on a textured off-white ground. The fans extend beyond the outer rim and radiate from a brown glazed condiment well. The wells show images of insects or flowering branches moving clock-wise from fan to fan. One well shows a yellow-beaked bird sitting in etched reeds with an etched ship in the background. The outer rim and all wells are bordered in a beaded dove-gray. The plate sits on six raised scallop shaped feet. It's 9" by 0.75".

This is a very complex mold of the Asian Aesthetic influence.

Marked with an English registry diamond. Light cracking on one fan reverse doesn't affect integrity.
