This book features a collection of maki-e furnishings by Ugo Alfonso Casal (1888-1964), a Swiss man residing in Kobe who came to Japan at the end of the Meiji era and lived here until his death in 1964, studying Japanese culture and collecting lacquerware, mainly maki-e.
