This book comprehensively showcases the unique aesthetics and appreciation system of inkstones, beyond their practical function, through language description and image presentation. Combining the artist's personal perspective, from object photography to rubbing, it presents the contemporary state of inkstone culture in a diverse way. In the normal sequence of work introductions, to show the texture and beauty of the inkstones, the overall image, front, and back images of the works are printed in their original size, allowing readers to have a direct visual experience. The interspersed black and white images and a few scene photos in the book also provide a rhythm for the reader. The binding is simple and approachable, and the softcover format allows the book to lie flat for reading.

The inkstones in the book are mainly from the Ming and Qing dynasties, with some contemporary new inkstone styles. The materials are rich and the styles are diverse. Each inkstone is equipped with an exquisite inkstone box, and the beauty of the inkstone is interpreted with a unique rubbing technique.

The inscriptions in the book are diverse in form, including expressing aspirations, recording events, and expressing feelings. Various calligraphic styles are used, and the carving techniques are rich. The double-knife method is stable and powerful, and the single-knife method is straightforward and unrestrained without losing the rules. There are also methods of incorporating painting into the inkstone and using a combination of single and double knife techniques, which allows both the scholar's spirit and the spirit of gold and stone to be achieved.

Fu Shuming, a native of Yancheng, Jiangsu, with the studio name "Yihong Xuan," is a disciple of Mr. Wang Yong. He is a member of the Beijing Seal Society and the Cun Geng Society. His works are collected by the National Art Museum of China and other institutions and individuals.
