The Honda Civic, which made its debut in 1972 and now counts as its 11th generation, is known for its compact design. The original Civic was a small car aimed at those upgrading from kei cars, with a length of approximately 3.5 meters and a width of about 1.5 meters. What made the original Civic globally renowned was its ability to clear the toughest emission regulations in the world at the time, such as the Masuki Law in the US, known for having the strictest emission standards, using the CVCC (Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion) technology ahead of its time. This technology enabled a balance between environmental performance and a lively driving experience. This achievement not only established a clever and fun image associated with driving a Civic in Japan but also made it extremely popular among young people in the United States.

Hot Wheels has chosen to base its design on the original Civic by removing the front bumper, replacing it with a chin spoiler and fog lamps, and fitting over-fenders to accommodate thick tires, creating a customized version.

Details specific to the Japan-exclusive sports grade RS, such as emblems, window frames, and front grills, have been recreated with fine printing.
