Waylon carries Bruce through the harbour into Gotham's sewers. He begs Bruce to "save" him and Bruce promises that he will find him a cure, but Waylon instead demands that Bruce kill him to end his suffering. Bruce draws one of his blades and goes to stab him in the brain, but at the last second he deflects away, unable to bring himself to do it. Waylon grabs the blade and tries to stab himself with it.
