Holt Howard:
In 1949, three college friends launched the Holt-Howard Company with a family loan of $9,000 to import and sell kitschy decorative objects. Robert Howard was in charge of developing products and sourcing, his brother John Howard handled sales, and their friend Grant Holt managed the financial side of the business.

How to Identify:
Only those items with the ink stamped Holt-Howard or which can be verified by shape and decoration in a reference book are genuine. One of the most common 1950s pixie knockoffs was made by the Davar Company. Davar pixies can be identified by the direction of the painted stripes.

Most Popular Items:
One of Holt-Howard's most popular lines was Pixieware. This line was produced from 1958 until 1962. These containers and condiment jars had whimsical pixie heads.

Ending:
Robert Howard passed away in 1990 and what remained of Holt-Howard was sold to Kay Dee Designs of Rhode Island in the same year. There is no longer a Holt-Howard cer
