A band from New York formed in 1981. They reigned as a noise punk pioneer in the American indie scene from the 1980s onwards. They had a significant influence on the later grunge and alternative rock movements, and they themselves moved to a major label with confidence. Since then, they have continued their activities, going back and forth between major and indie labels. Even after their activities ceased in 2011, they are still supported by many enthusiastic fans.
