This striking mid-century Victorian Revival pendant features a genuine, hand-carved Carnelian Intaglio depicting a Roman soldier (Centurion) in profile. The stone is a rich, translucent orangish-red and is securely housed in a decorative "Lantern" or "Cage" mount. The frame is accented with elegant beaded/dotted borders at the top and bottom, with classic vertical support bars on the reverse. The circular bail shows a beautiful vintage patina, with a silver-toned inner core revealing its high-quality gold-filled construction. This piece was originally designed as a watch fob but makes for a bold, "Dark Academia" style necklace focal point.
