Sumiai, which is indigo dye layered with sumi (ink) dyeing, is black denim made with natural dyes. The overlapping sumi and indigo create deep shadows. It won't wear out no matter how many times you wash it, and the elegant color is unique to indigo denim.
The fabric, with its rough texture and strong firmness and resilience, was slowly woven on an old-style power loom that has been in operation since the 1950s.
The "Sower" has a "presence (ari)" discharge print on the indigo fabric. Sashiko stitching is applied throughout. The stitching on the back pocket is rubbed off and peeled away... the remaining part forms an "R" shape, telling a story. With a sturdy specification that pursues functionality, a straight silhouette without unnecessary decoration, this is denim that you'll grow to love the more you wear it.
