This exceptional Russian lacquer box is a premium hand-painted Fedoskino portrait miniature featuring Tsar Nicholas II, the last Emperor of Russia. It is signed by the artist Vasiliev N. (Васильев Н.) and dated 2000, with the inscription: “Федоскино – 2000 г. – Николай II – Васильев Н.” (“Fedoskino – 2000 – Nicholas II – Vasiliev N.”)
Fedoskino is the oldest and most prestigious lacquer-art village in Russia, world-renowned for lifelike portraiture created using fine oil paints, meticulous shading, and glowing underlayers—often including mother-of-pearl for luminosity. This box displays that quality beautifully.
