Estate Sale Japanese Okimono Lapidary Arts Museum Quality carved 4” banana c. 1868 to 1912

Japanese okimono, a decorative carving made the Meiji period (1868-1912). Okimono were purely ornamental objects designed for display in a home alcove known as a tokonom.

This belonged to my Grandmother who purchased it in the 1800’s. I don’t know much about it other than that she had quite a collection of these intricately detailed statues that she purchased when she traveled with her brother Joseph Lizzadro who owned a museum of Lapidary Arts in Oakbrook, IL (first established in Elmhurst, IL).
Comes with the wooden stand in the photo.
Ships with signature confirmation.
