In the Chimayo region, nestled in the mountains near Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, the traditional weaving culture of Spanish settlers has taken root.

Centinela Traditional Art began in the 1980s when Mr. Irvin Trujillo, whose family has been weaving for generations, started making rugs in a garage with his father.

Their skill, having been involved in the production of the Ortega family, is undeniable. They have established a firm uniqueness by reviving the traditional method of dyeing yarn with natural materials. While striving to spread the traditional culture of Chimayo and actively teaching techniques and culture to the next generation, they also challenge innovative designs, techniques, and the exquisite colors produced by natural materials. Today, they are the only workshop in Chimayo that produces collection pieces, and are widely recognized as the most artistic Chimayo Weaver.

The Chimayo vest on offer this time is a popular long vest with a long length and a flat hem, making it easy to wear.
The pockets on both sides are practical and also a part of the design.
In addition, this piece features a multi-stripe pattern, which is rare for vests, though often seen in rugs.
The vest is made of 100% wool, hand-woven one by one, and the yarn is dyed with natural materials. Centinela's vests, which use natural and delicate colors, are a crystallization of Chimayo's history, and are items that allow you to experience the unchanging, authentic quality.
