"Higo Zogan," boasting a tradition of about four hundred years, is a technique where fine grooves are carved into locally sourced steel with chisels, and pure gold or gold threads are inlaid into those grooves. In the Edo period, it was applied to sword guards and other sword mountings, and was beloved as a symbol of samurai dandyism. This profound and elegant technique, known as "Higo Zogan," has transcended time, been passed down through generations, and produced numerous masterpieces and master craftsmen.
