Among Levi's 【501XX】, the "S501XX 1944 Model" and "501XX 1955 Model" are considered to be the most popular. The S501XX 1944 Model is said to be a valuable model that reflects the special historical background of being made in the United States during World War II. As the war situation intensified in the United States, material controls were strengthened, and the effects also reached Levi's. As a result, the front buttons were changed to those with the company name and laurel wreath engraved buttons, and metal parts such as crotch (inseam) rivets, watch rivets, and back straps were omitted. Furthermore, as the war intensified, inexpensive fabrics such as herringbone, flannel, and gauze were used for the pocket slakes (pocket bags). Finally, even the Arcuate stitch on the back pockets, which symbolizes Levi's jeans, was forced to be omitted. However, as a desperate measure to protect the brand identity in such circumstances, the Arcuate was handmade with paint.
