This fused glass dog ornament is the work of studio glass artist Charlotte Behrens (Charlotte Arvelle Glass, Mt. Carroll, Illinois). Behrens is known for her kiln-formed glass techniques, cutting individual elements from sheet glass and firing them at approximately 1400° to achieve full fusion and dimensional detail. Her work appeared in American craft galleries throughout the late 20th and early 21st centuries, and she is perhaps best known for being commissioned to create ornaments for the White House Christmas Trees, later accessioned into the Smithsonian's permanent collection—a notable highlight in contemporary American ornament design.
