A vintage decorative plate showcasing the Capitol building in Atlanta Georgia. This beautiful piece features intricate red transferware detailing with imagery of peaches and historical scenes around the border. The back of the plate provides historical context about Atlanta becoming the temporary capital in 1867 and the permanent capital in 1877 with the words:
"Made in England for the Transylvania Club of Sandersville, Georgia"
The backstamp dates this plate to approximately 1877.
This vintage plate has crackled finish and a fine crack. The crack is hard to see but is shown in the last two photos between the yellow arrows. This item is being sold in the condition as pictured.
