1920s-1940s Era Antique 1/20 12K Gold Filled Black Onyx Filigree Mourning Brooch

This is an antique gold filled brooch featuring black onyx with a smooth, high-polish dome set in an ornate filigree frame. The piece measures 1-1/2 inches in length and 1-1/4 inches in width. The design reflects Victorian revival / early Art Deco styling and is reminiscent of antique mourning jewelry. The piece is in good vintage condition with light age-related wear. It is hallmarked H.G. and marked 1/20 12K G.F. The C-clasp works well. It opens and closes smoothly. The brooch was produced between the 1920s and 1940s. Besides the piece belonging to my mother-in-laws aunt, I learned the H.G. hallmark is attributed to H.G. Mfg. Co., a U.S. maker active mainly in the earlymid 1900s. It produced gold-filled jewelry, which included mourning-style pieces with decorative filigree.
