Early 20th century Austrian postal or parcel desk scale mechanism, marked “OESTR. FAB.” and “AUSTRIA.” Heavy cast metal construction with a green-painted base, graduated dial, and exposed linkage. When downward pressure is applied to the top platform, the side arms expand outward, showing that the mechanism still moves and responds as intended.

This is a compact mechanical assembly designed for desktop or counter use, with an open framework that makes the movement easy to see. The form balances utility and ornament, with subtle decorative relief on the base and a clear, legible scale face. It presents well as a functional mechanical object or as a display piece for a desk, shelf, or studio setting.
