Kay Bojesen Denmark's beloved wooden animals are cherished classics around the world, adored by both children and adults. Made from oak, maple, and teak, these gentle and sturdy play animals have been treasured heirlooms for generations since the 1950s. Danish designer Kay Bojesen created his first wooden animal back in 1934 – a dachshund with a charmingly tilted head. In the following decades, Bojesen designed a wide array of animals, the most famous being the wooden monkey, created in 1951.
