This is a premier example of traditional Breton Folk Art. This fish shaped (Turbo) plate features the beloved "Petite Breton" figure, in traditional dress, surrounded by vibrant floral borders and a unique figural fish silhouette. This is the "Tradition" decor, the classic, most sought after "Old World" style that made Quimper famous.

The plate is expertly hand painted on a tin-glazed earthenware base. It features a molded fish head iwth detailed scales and the "Sponged" blue fins. The central figure is dressed in the traditional costume of the Brittany region, surrounded by a borderof hand painted acanthus leaves and rust-colored florets.
Excellent Vintage condition with no chips or cracks.
