A striking expression of mid-century American glass craftsmanship, this pair of Copper Blue candlesticks was produced by the Fostoria Glass Company under special commission for the Henry Ford Museum. Modeled after an 1850s Bakewell design, each piece carries the museum’s revival of historic form interpreted through crisp geometric stacking, hexagonal bases, and sculpted symmetry that feels architectural in silhouette.

The vivid Copper Blue glass — also known among collectors as Argus Blue or Electric Blue — captures light with exceptional saturation and depth. As illumination passes through the faceted structure, the candlesticks glow with an aquatic brilliance that transforms surrounding space. This color was exclusive to Fostoria’s museum commission line and remains one of the most recognizable mid-century specialty glass tones.
