Antique hand-carved wooden dough bowl trencher light color 19.5" long

Antique hand-carved wooden (what kind of wood is unknown) dough bowl or trencher, such bowls were staples in the 19th century households, primitive rustic style | 19-1/2" long excluding handles X 14" X 2-7/8" tall | light tan-cream color and very light weight. Fair to poor condition - unfortunately, someone wrote this in bottom of bowl: "This my great grandmithers - for now! = given to me" - perhaps it could be lightly sanded to remove the writing; it is very dry - Seller reluctant to oil it thinking doing so may decrease the value; also from decades of use it has small gouges and edge nicks - all adding interest.
