Vintage Hardback Pair of Heidi Books

Set of two vintage classic Heidi books. The 1927 edition of HEIDI by Johanna Spyri is paired with the 1939 edition of its sequel, HEIDI'S CHILDREN by Charles Tritten. The children's fictional HEIDI was published between 1880-1881 and relates the story about a 5-year old orphan girl living high in the Swiss Alps with her reclusive grandfather where she finds joy among the mountains and befriends young goatherder Peter and his family. HEIDI'S CHILDREN continues the story of Heidi's life being married to Peter and having her own family in Dorfli. The book explores Heidi's maturity as a wife and mother while staying true to her original character. It was originally published in French in 1939. (This American translation was also published in 1939.) Both were published by Grosset and Dunlap. The covers show signs of age and wear. The spines are intact, but some pages may indicate potential water damage which add to their vintage appeal.
