Vintage military-style N-3B snorkel parka, flying man’s extreme cold weather parka. It was originally developed by the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s for aircrews stationed in frigid climates. This is a 3/4 length parka with a full-length storm flap, reinforced elbows, and fitted knit cuffs to keep out the cold.
"Snorkel" Hood: The integrated hood can be fully zipped up, leaving only a small opening (the "snorkel") for visibility, which protects the face from extreme wind and cold. The hood is lined and trimmed with synthetic fur to trap warm air. The outer shell is a durable nylon, designed to be water-resistant and windproof. The bright orange quilted lining is for visibility in rescue situations if the jacket were to be reversed. Good condition for its age. There is a flaw in the zipper as seen in the photo, but the zipper is still functional. There is no size tag, armpit to armpit measurement is 24 inches/men’s M/L. Worn by my dad in the Air Force during the Korean War.
