Metropolitan Museum Art reproduction of a Peacock as a brooch
Makers mark - MMA SHM which is Metropolitan. Useum of Art and then the maker for the museum who made anesthetics.
I used this as a prop, so I have two, but had one on a necklace for the prop.
This is a piece made and sold by the MMA, probably from the late 90's. It's a reproduction of a piece that is in the museum. I went thru the museums catalogue and I can't say for sure which piece it is. There are many works of art that have a Peacock as the subject matter. It might be the famous pair of Chelsea Porcelain peacocks. Soft-paste porcelain decorated in polychrome enamels, from 1755–58. So its in the style of Chinoiserie, which was the British being highly influenced by Eastern design aesthetics.
Anyway, definitely for the Peacock and art lover.
MMA jewelry is always high quality. 24k gold plated, gemstones are likely Swarovski, Czech crystal's, and enamel glass based on other brooches listed on their website.
