Navajo Style Sterling Silver Ring Wide Band Size 11 1/4

This vintage Navajo men's sterling silver ring features a chunk of turquoise set in a strip bezel with rope accent. The stone is unique with colors that fade from medium blue on the perimeter to light blue around the rougher more exposed portions at the top of the stone. This may indicate that the stone is a natural untreated piece.

It measures 1 1/8” in total length. On the underside of the ring it is etched with “BL”. This may be a hallmark. The stone measures 21mm long by 18mm wide. It has a black matrix in the crevices.

As stated above, this ring is pre-owned and shows minor signs of wear. I performed both a "hot-needle" test and a "scratch" test on the stone. Turquoise is a semi-soft stone with a rank of 5 to 6 on the Mohs hardness scale. The ring is not stamped to indicate metal purity but I tested the band with a GTE acid test. The results (red) indicate sterling silver. The metal is also not magnetic.
