This beautiful, unique brooch comes from Monet's 1963 "Spinnerets" collection, which featured a series of insects, leaves, and other natural elements made from intricately spun gold tone or silver tone metal. This large dragonfly brooch has a gold tone metal frame and tiered, three dimensional wings made from the signature stretched wire. The insect's body and the edges of its wings are covered in an eggshell white, matte finish enamel. This striking brooch is nicely weighted and wears very well.
The piece is in great condition. The enamel shows minor wear consistent with vintage jewelry. The wire is all firmly attached to the frame, and the pin mechanism is fully functional.
