This striking piece of vintage straw art showcases the ancient Chinese technique of wheat-straw patchwork, or straw marquetry. The artwork features two figures in intricate traditional attire, meticulously crafted from natural wheat stalks that have been split, flattened, and hand-cut. The natural golden luster of the straw creates a beautiful contrast against the rich black fabric background, a hallmark of mid-century folk art production from regions like Henan and Heilongjiang.
