This is a vintage Deruta Sambuco cherub wall plaque, a piece of authentic Italian majolica pottery handcrafted in Deruta, Italy. ®
• Manufacturer: It was produced by the Sambuco workshop, a renowned family-run ceramics studio in the Umbria region.
• Design: The plaque features a hand-painted cherub (or putto) holding a floral sprig, set within an oval border and topped with a distinctive sculpted ceramic bow. •
• Material: It is made of majolica, which is a type of tin-glazed earthenware known for its bright, vibrant colors.
• Era: These specific designs are often attributed to the 1960s or late 20th century.
I have shown in pictures a small flea bite on top and a rough spot on one side. Feels like the glaze may have been scratched. There are some areas that look like tan spots but they are in the glaze I believe. I have tried to show any questionable areas in my photos. That being said, you are welcome to message me with any questions.
It is a lovely piece.
