Vintage Zuni-Navajo Fetish Carved Frog Sterling Silver Turquoise Ring Size 8

This large vintage sterling silver ring features two carved turquoise stones set in sawtooth bezel with dew drop accents. Traditionally, these rings would be created by joint collaboration between the Zuni (who carved the frogs) & the Navajo (who smithed the rings and set the stones). The rings symbolized rain, abundance, and fertility.

This ring is a solid heavy piece of metal and measures about 1 1/4" in total length. The sides are adorned with stamp work. The stones measure 16mm long by 11mm wide. They are light blue with varying matrix and polished to a glossy finish.

This ring is vintage & pre-owned and shows minor signs of wear. I performed both a "hot-needle" test and a "scratch" test on the stone. The ring is stamped to indicate the purity of the metal, and I tested the metal with a GTE silver acid test. The results (red) indicate sterling silver. The metal is also not magnetic.
