A fantastical story by Jean-Jacques Beineix, the director of "Betty Blue." Tony, a street artist in Paris, and his younger black companion, Jockey, pursue a woman he fell in love with to the south of France. Along the way, they meet Leon, an old man who possesses mysterious powers, such as reviving a dying rabbit. Leon is also searching for his first love, making him a sage-like figure.

The lead actor, Yves Montand, passed away from a heart attack on November 9, 1991, just before the completion of this film, making it his last work (the film also features a scene where he suffers a heart attack).
The title comes from the initials of the subtitle used in France, "L'île aux pachydermes" (meaning "Island of Pachyderms"), and because it was Jean-Jacques Beineix's fifth film as a director.

I purchased this as a used item and watched it only once.
There are some scratches and stains on the case and disc.
With obi. Cell version. Out of print and a valuable work.
