Tatsuro Yamashita - Christmas Eve EP Promo White Label Rare MOSE-107A

"Christmas Eve" was released as the last song on the B-side of the album "MELODIES" in June 1983. Originally written around 1981 for Mariya Takeuchi's album but rejected by the director, it is said that Tatsuro Yamashita unearthed it for his own album. The turning point came in 1988. When it was used as the CM song for JR Tokai's "Christmas Express," it became an indispensable number for the Japanese Christmas season.

In March 2016, it was certified by Guinness World Records for the most consecutive years (30 years) charting on the Japanese singles chart.

This song has been released on record in various forms. The most famous was the 9th 12-inch single record by Tatsuro, released on December 14, 1983, with a limited edition of 30,000 copies. As it was a picture record, it seems to have sold out quickly.

The record I am offering this time is a 7-inch version, although the picture on the jacket is the same as the 12-inch picture disc. It is a promo white label with the record number MOSE-107. It is noted that it was distributed on November 22, 1983. (I own another MOSE-107, and the distribution date was written on the edge of the jacket.) In other words, this MOSE-107 is a phantom prototype record that was pressed as a prototype but never released. It was a promo-only disc that quietly disappeared in the shadow of the 12-inch picture record. Therefore, it is rare to appear on the market, and it has become one of the items that Tatsuro fans want to own at all costs, leading to a price increase.

The record I am offering this time has some sticker residue on the jacket, but otherwise, it is in good condition. The disc is clean, with no burns or warps. It may have been in good condition because it was stored in a dark place due to its unreleased status.
