Mid Century Moteng Weavers Lesotho Woven Mohair Tapestry

Nice hand loomed traditional Moteng tapestry “Basotho Huts”. Made of spun mohair wool dyed in strong bold colors, it depicts two of the circular homes known as rondavels or mokhoro, with fabrics drying on a line a large, leafy tree. Five loops on top to accommodate a tapestry rod for easy hanging. Bottom edge warp threads fringe. Paper tag on reverse identifying the artist, year and art collective. Approx. 32” W, 22” H with 2.25” loops for hanging. Made 1980 in Lesotho, Southern Africa. No condition issues from smoke free storage.
