Pallankuzhi: An ancient South Indian board game
Comes with traditional sozhi/shells for playing the game.
Pallankuzhi (also known as Pallankuli, Pallanguzhi, and other variations) is a traditional Indian board game, and a type of mancala game. It is particularly popular in South India, especially in the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, and is also played in Sri Lanka and Malaysia. The game's name comes from Tamil and Malayalam, meaning "many pits" or "fourteen pits," which refers to the traditional board that has two rows of seven pits. Pallankuzhi is typically a two-player game, although it can be played with up to four. The game involves using a wooden board with fourteen pits, seven on each player's side. Seeds, shells, small stones, or other counters are used as game pieces.
Pallankuzhi has a rich history, with some even theorizing its existence dates back to the Stone Age based on inscriptions found in the village of Pannam
