This is a beautiful example of a late 19th-century tin toleware kerosene lamp. It features the sought-after "EAGLE" burner, manufactured by the P. & A. Mfg. Co. of Thomaston, Conn.. This "sconce" style lamp was a staple in early American homes, designed to be carried by the finger loop or hung on a wall via the mounting hole in the reflector.
Condition & Details:
• Branding: The burner is clearly embossed with "EAGLE", and the thumbwheel bears the P. & A. MFG. CO. hallmark.
• Artistry: The lamp retains its original hand-painted tole floral motifs on the base and scrollwork on the reflector.
• Dimensions: The unit stands approximately 8 inches tall. The burner itself is roughly 3 inches in diameter.
• Condition: Shows a wonderful aged patina with some surface oxidation and minor paint wear, which confirms its antique status. The wick is present.
